The Darkest Part of Me

ombu

1 Your life feels broken

They make you sad

They make you mad

It’s hard to get up

2 Why do they touch you?

Why do they hurt you?

All the time saying

You won’t be anything

3 Adults watch for it

Adults listen for it

But when you’re forced to be silent!

Forced out of sight!

The ones sworn to protect you

Can’t save you

4 The ones closest to you

The ones you let see you

All hurting you with no remorse

Making you wish to be gone

5 They say no one will believe you

No one will keep you

Everyone will be ashamed

You’ll get abandoned

Thrown away

Just trash in its place

6 They tell you to hold on

Walk straight

But you just want to leave

Cause leaving means death

7 We try to move on

Forget the heartbreak

Someone has it worse

But we’re so weak

8 The broken pieces

Lost in space

We want to be fixed

Not replaced

9 We want to move on

Forget our past

But when they call you a monster

The thoughts come back

10 Who wants to see the real me?

Broken, shattered

All worn out

So glad the darkness hides me

11 Back to fighting

Ready for dying

See my scars all over me

  • Comment from author about the poem: This poem is about how broken i am and how no one could stop the sexual harassment from happening to me. I don't want anyone to go through that and I want people to read this and see that I know how they feel. That they aren't alone.
