On The Green Envied Moss

Edthepoet

Black horses run
Born by the horizon
A thousand hooded riders
Consumed by
Thoughts of the gold
Swinging at her side
I fixed broken bridge
To save her life
If they get across
We will both die

I hear her screams
To run
Echoe across the valley
I see her tears
Fall down
Onto smokey pond

I cut the ropes
On broken bridge
It falls to the void
I cut the hope
Two broken hearts
The only choice

A thousand
Hooded riders
Gallop at my back
A thousand swords drawn
My darling run
Don't look back

My last breath breathed
To to set you free
You must carry on
Towards the sun
With my life
My love

I close my eyes
You're in my arms
Your skin is soft
Your eyes are wide
Filled with pride
You sing sweet songs

They'll never find
This place we made
To call our own
In another life
They'll never find
This place we made
Beneath orange glow

You'll be my wife
Raise our child
We will be free
Under the ash
Of smokey pond
We shall swim

Until ours souls
Again do meet
Keep me
In your thoughts
I will wait for you darling
On the green envied moss.
I will wait for you darling
I will be here
To help you cross

A tale of romance with a sting in its sad tail - - your pen evokes times and places so well. First class read.
