Prisoners.

kevin browne

strapped jacket, padded cell emotions run right through to hell
locked doors barred windows, ceilings hang ropes on a high
cuffed hands, chained and balled, years detached from life
degrading, hallucinating and born into a living life of hell
an adulterated reality, clinging to anything, a family missed and lost
nightmare visions, midnight horror screams, another life gone by
landings loud, officers pounce and another straight blade razor fight
solitary in confinement, junk food, no voice, no letters or pen
bells rings, doors slam, keys rattle another one stabbed again
slit faces, human races, bad breeds, surrounded by a wall
escaped on hire, caught the crown and served up with 10 years
categorised into letters, then numbers without the name of privileged
running riots, rooftop mayhem and paying prisoners cost a lost
down the moors, invading cockroach put it on the dinner plate
Ganga sings, governers screams as the days float on by
sleep in, get up, don't run, don't talk, don't bent over in the shower tray
day release, on the run, another crime to earn a crooked time
another scratch, another month, another year with a grey beard
time is serving, time is precious, time is knowing and time is the healing
