The Gray

KLyman

How do you feel, but not fix?
How do you acknowledge, but not condone?

I say the wrong words.
When I try to fix I make a mess.
When I try to fix you say just feel.
Every word is a landmine I step on.
Every word is a weapon you’ll twist and use against me.
I can say nothing right, but silence makes you angry.

I hear the words you say,
I understand the concepts you convey,
Your words are like a magic trick.
I watch them, see them, understand them,
but in the end they feel like an invention.

The truth is I don’t want you to hurt.
It makes me sad to see you in agony.
I want to help you feel better,
but I feel like I'm the cause of your troubles.
Somehow my life brings you pain.
I can’t keep myself small enough to bring you peace.
I can’t keep the outside world far enough away to bring you peace.
