Did it Overheat?

Edthepoet

Kicking back
The weekend
Killing father time
He rises from the ashes
Monday morning
5 past nine

Even sons of freedmen
Knew they were once a slave
Are these really choices
That we still have to make

Dropping bombs
On treason
Killing mother earth
She rises from the ashes
Leaving victims
In the dirt

Even the need for freedom
Blinds us from our plight
Are these really voices
That'll lead us to the light

What happened
To the TV
Is it stuck on repeat?

What happened
To the radio
Same song different key

What happened
To this machine
Did it over heat?

Though we continue
Walking through
The great pretend
Are we at the beginning
The beginning of the end?
I'll be fucked if I know
My friend.

I found this poetic expression well written and worthy, Ed!
A poetic 'rap' piece. Nice work.
