Life or pigment

Dametre Williams

since adolescence

jesus been pouring blessings

still praying for victims of 9/11

as 911 out here killing

I guess i missed the 4-11 cause i never saw my self as a color

im screaming  race don't matter

a child dies and people pull out there phones

#black lives matter

Im more concerned about the ken

and the parents who had to bear witness

or are waiting at home wondering when they son gonna be coming home

my mom and father got these preminitions

and im sad to say i do to

the news never knew the child yet still deemed fit to call him a criminal

  • Comment from author about the poem: some people seem to care more about the color then the indiviual or tragedy. Channel 7 news reporters judging people they never knew from environments they know nothing about. No one to defend us from when they speak calling us criminals or thugs cause we dont dress to there liking. But we all sin so who are they to judge. I do to fear of my death and im afraid due to my pigment, size, and way i like to dress they will deem me a criminal also

We are all one in the same in God's eyes. Racism is a tregedy. Like a bad disease. Mankind has no place being a judge. Liked your poem! Look forward to the next one.
