She was the girl with a smile
You could always see her laugh
She would light up a room
But she had a secret
See from where she comes from words hurt
Her own flesh and blood call her names
Most of the time its fat, ugly, stupid, faggot
She was told she would just fail
How can she be anything if no one believes in her
Its like they are setting her up for failure
She can not believe in herself if no one else does
The words they tell her hurt
They are cutting deeper than they will ever know
These words make her hate herself
They are the reason for the sleepless nights
The reason she wonders if she is worth it
The reason she will never do what she dreamed of
The words made her give up
They made her not believe

- Comment from author about the poem: The poem is about bullying. Bullying from your own family. It is about giving up on dreams. I know this feeling all to well. I am told I cant do things. This poem reflects on my story. I just want to say dont give up. Keep fighting. I believe in you. Never quite.

Over the past year and a half, I have gone through bullying as well. Some of the things people have said to me i just can't shake off. Its got to the point now where im having extra support because im struggling to cope on my own anymore. We'll battle through this together, we will always be stronger than them x I'm here if you need me
