A New Body

nancy akbari

 Pardon me

I hope I'm not being rude

I heard you're a doctor

So, sorry, I must ask you

I need new parts for my body

It would feel so good

Not from another person

Use my own cells if you could

And not a new brain

I still want to be me

Let's start with my boobs

They've fallen down

They now scrape the ground

I can't get around

My eyes top and bottom

They hang, swell and bloat

My lids in the morning

Open only with a poke

Skin droops from my arms

Too many wrinkles in my knees

I need a transplant of tight skin

Can you do that doctor, please

Where I used to have cheeks

I have jowls hanging down

My nose is too red

Makes me look like a clown

My insides need help

My heart's been complaining

My lungs are exhausted

My colon is straining

 My stomach needs antacids

Every single day now

My bladder keeps leaking

My digestive tubes are blown

The worst part of all

My belly hangs over

Beneath it there's sores

They continue to fester

My anus needs repair

There are hemorrhoids nesting there

They came with my kids long ago

But still hurt my derriere

So doctor, my doctor

What do you say

Please give me a new  body

Let's get underway

But do not forget

That I must remain me

My brain stays as is

Tho old and weary

I still must be me
