Instead

Baylee

You hear stories

of the ceasing of her voice

as it sang throughout the empty hallways

after she was left

broken and helpless

But these stories

are told falsely

Her voice was not quieted;

her broken heart did not die

Instead

She sang louder than before

her songs becoming a plea

Hoping against hope

he would hear them

from hundreds of miles away
