It’s odd how just a few short minutes

Can change the world you once knew,

How that moment can warp the way you see everything;

The way you think,

The way you feel,

And who you see in your own reflection.

No words will ever convey

The horror, and the pain that I felt that day.

No melody or strokes from a brush could begin to illustrate

The monster that I once knew.

My only goal is to tell my story to you.

I was passed out,

Like I was led on the shore with the waves going back

And forth, back and forth.

Suddenly I was no longer safe

The flow got stronger

And crashed over my face.

I tried to leave but the weight of the waves

Held me down.

I was like a piece of meat that had been branded.

Just another number.

I wondered if I deserved it,

Did I ask for it, was it my fault?

My mind flooded with confusion,

And my heart broke

but his eyes filled with lust.

He took another piece of me with

Every thrust.

I led there in the night, empty,

Exposed.

The world I knew began to disintegrate

Like the wilting petal of a rose.

Each star in the sky faded away

Until there was only a veil of darkness.

His touch was so cold,

Like a vacuum

Sucking the life out of me,

Like a blood transfusion

Only pumped full of filth and muck.

I hope as a reader,

As it did me,

That this will make you weep

That my innocence is no longer mine to keep.

That event has left a crack,

He took something from me

That I can never get back.

But I can only look forward

To a brighter future

To all the things I can achieve and all the things I can still be,

And with all the love I have received

That crack will never break me.
