a failed dream.

Ruth Fadairo

How does one move on in life,

When all I think about is you.

My mind is repeatedly intruded,

With memories of you.

I fantasised about us together

The life that we should have created.

Our future home, our future world,

This dream of mine, obliterated.

Dream I say, yet this is a nightmare

A nightmare that I must sleep through.

Yet when I wake up, I roll over

Heartbroken, because I cannot see you.

You were the blood in my veins

You were my entire heart.

I want to die but I live for you

You see, I'm torn apart.

But then I am hit with a revelation

As to why I contain such poor luck,

I created this so-called ‘fairy-tale’

When cupid’s arrow struck.
