Write You Down

SheWasTheSun

I will not write you down

For you belong in my mind

Just as you are now

Buried deep inside the mine

Scrawled across my pages

Are ugly and evil truths

Diseased hearts in steel cages

And my own excavated roots

All my guts and all my gore

Are proudly on display

Tales of those who have left me sore

And all the times I’ve gone astray

But you, I think I’ll keep to myself

Like the selfish child you know me to be

With all my might and all my stealth

I will lock you up and hide the key

You’ll never see your name in ink

On this I swear it all

To them, you’ll always be extinct

A mystery unsolved

Treasure, do not misconceive

Your relevance and weight

Your mark is permanent on me

And every work that I create

I will always hold your hand

And I’ll forever wear your crown

At your side is where I’ll stand

But I will never write you down
