2 Poems; The Cost and; It's Time

1.

A child, alone, under the bitter unforgiving night

Sending down pure white snow to settle on land

Upon contact becoming crimson from blood trite

He is drenched with it, it will be wherever he stands

The boy enters the remains of a ruined home

Burnt and covered with ash and soot

Only one memorial, a blood-soaked tome

He blinks and it becomes a graveyard, the truth

2.

It’s time to open your eyes

We can’t wait for the sun to rise

Trapped within an endless night

Make your stand and fight

Oh they can offer you a legion of lies

Against the evils to which they have ties

Continuing our legacy of eternal war

Hiding the truth of the countless lives they’ve all tore

Blood remains the same on either ground

Leaving the suffering no chance to make a sound

As they preach about change, while still being resolute

Regardless of the gun, a bullet will shoot

Now, it’s time for us to fight back

Grab our pens and though ammo we lack

Armed with truth to crush lies in the way

Setting our foot down and paving a new day

Send out our words all marching together as we lengthen the struggle to create between us a sense of humanity

Let the old become aflame and from the dying embers etch in a new chapter of hopeful peace not fearless war

Taking the future within our own hands, giving us our chance to craft a new destiny

All of us have a decision, each one affecting everyone, will you join the pride and let out your roar?
