Growing up

Justagirl

As a child

we all want to be our parents when we grow up

where did we lose that

Now I sit alone

in my bedroom

playing on my phone

hoping that I'll  be my own person soon

i do everything that I can

to get away from the life I had planed

my parents can't stand

that I refuse to take their hand

If only they could see

that what I really need

Is them to believe in me

i don't want to be them anymore

I am a father of three, all grown up with kids of their own. Believe me, it is as hard for parents to let go as it is for kids to find their own way.
Your poem is very good, and you give us all a lot of food for thought.
