To See Light

poetboy5454

The flames surge and spread, surrounding me

Smoke clogging my throat crumpled on the ground

Everything is ashes, burned away every place to flee

Doomed, I ignite, unable to make a sound

Shadows and Nightmares out on prowl

Their suffocating aura crushing my ambition

Darkness creeping closer ever foul

Lost and alone, praying for the sun

Yet despite how deep I had sunk

Regardless of how I felt utterly overwhelmed

My hopes and dreams hadn't shrunk

To my fate, I would never be condemned

So each and every time I will fall

Once again I'll climb and stand tall

I have to fight just to fight

To keep myself truly alive

Tear my way through this night

Live to hope for the light

Very nicely said. We all are straining to reach the light!

Thank you, and hopefully, we'll continue to do so!

Nice rhyme and rhythm PB! I discerned two types of light in your poem. One in the form of a smothering and destructive fire and the other in beckoning light that leads. There is no confusion in which one is chosen.

Thank you very much, Gary! I'm glad you understood 😀

Inspirational for those who feel down and out, that from some where even after being burned to a crisp we can come back even stronger. I read your bio. At 14 I could not write a decent sentence. Kudos young man.
