"Cycles"

MaddieJ

I wake up

I eat to live to eat

I work to drive to work

Then, I wake again.

I work to eat

Eat to live

Live to work

Work to die.

This is the cycle of my life.

The cycle goes round and round until one day the line of this poem comes true...... I die.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I know this isn't very flowy with words or rhyming or structured well, it's just how I feel. Wanted to write down what I was thinking. Which I typically do just not always in a public manner. (Laughing )

Virago, Love your poem! Remembered a definition of life I wrote quite a while ago during one of my more humorous days: You are born with nothing, then you study like crazy to learn things you never use, then you work like crazy to buy things you don't need, with money you don't have, then you die.

Thanks Fred! That's so true! Just going through the motions!

A finely expressed rough outline of life ... but you omitted the exquisite moments in between, like love. Good poem, Virago!

You're right Louis. I didn't at the time while writing this poem, have in mind the many blessings that I also have. I was so brought down and depressed about it, my thought was focused on the pessimistic side rather than optimistic. I do have love and that's what counts! Thanks!
