Shadowed Reflection

D'anna-Mae Holness

We gazed into eachother's eyes,

A stare fulfilled with passion.

I sought for love,

Though he sought for the truth.

To bare me, to set me free-

I needed the clothes.

Yet he pursued to strip me,

Leaving me a liar.

Battling who I really was-

I tried to attack,

But I looked once more and

Then we were the same.

I was dark.

Trying to escape from the bottomless pit-

Still dark.

Struggling to contemplate...

"Where am I?"

I shouted, screamed.

Then rebuked my words.

I finally opened my mind.

He was me,

This place - me

But,

Who was I ?
