I was the princess of the night,
hopes so high they took flight.
I even met some guy, no fright.
Despite the earlier rejection,
I later gave myself a confession
her showing up...
was  never a profession.
My brother made my night bright!
He kept things fun, things alright!
Without him, a good time was out of site.
It happened back in May,
but it feels like yesterday.
Maybe I'll make it next year, that'd be gay.

- Comment from author about the poem: Prom was May 13th 2017, and I had invited my brother, and a friend of mine. I kind of knew that the friend I invited was going to act like a dumb ass and not show up, I held it against her, thus the reason we're not friends anymore. It was kinda of sad, but she was toxic. I made another friend that night, so I am thankful, because I don't think him and I would've talked if my "friend" had actually showed up. My brother kept me in good spirits, I've never been so grateful for his existence in my entire life, haha.

A nice light well written piece. I remember my daughter's prom night, and understand that it can be scary. You're on the stage where everybody can see you. Nuff said. I am glad it did work out for you despite the, as it turned out, small hickup with your friend.
Thank you. It's definitely a memorable night; the good and bad. 🙂
