They call me ego

malubotelho

I'm sitting in a corner of your mind,
observing the opportunity to raid your thoughts.
I slide in every glimpse of your eyes, before you even see.
I cling on your head and I ride on your shoulders giving you directions.
I abuse of your feelings and constrict your emotions to make you cry, then I shout out your pain as a premium for my conduct. I win you in almost every attempt.
I think you are mine and you think you are me. This is how we intertwine and together we think we can conquer the world.
If you could see that I'm not you, you could be free but till you can understand your own mind and shine by (YOURSELF) I will be sitting in that corner and I will be raiding your thoughts.

(Response to ego)

You are quite scary but I know you, more than you think I do. I can see you sitting in that corner and as you move I observe you. You always use my weakness to get stronger. You feed on my ingenuity.
When I forget about you is when you blend with me. You don't know so well because you presume you know me. Most of the time the fool are you because you think you are me or you own me. While I can not win all the battle against you and bane you forever from my mind I need to always bring you to a space where I can see you. I shine my light on your eyes to make you blind, but I have to admit that I can not sleep on you because you are my closest enemy.

Malu I like the way you present both sides. But like it or not, where would we be without that little devil because there are times when we need it.

  • malubotelho

We think we do and this is why it win us but we have a deeper source of true that is your true self that does not need the ego. The ego is the shadow of the true self. It is a phantom. A parasite. Very deep subject. If you only believe in physichology you can not understand it. It is deeper than that. Sorry my friend. This is all I can say for now.

  • Nicholas Browning

Ego is a very interesting concept. You have to feed it the right amount.

    • malubotelho

I don't want to feed it. But you are right somehow. It is a very delicate subject since we are only crawling in it. If we let the ego starving it can get mad and play us. There are ways to eliminate it but it very painful because it is going against what we think is ourselves. I've been studying the subject and observing it for twenty years and still it tricks me.

      • Nicholas Browning

        It certainly is devilish

You are cute. I like your answer. If you are totally innocent. You seems to be. Thanks for your comment.

"Observing the opportunity to raid your thoughts" how true and well phrased that is. Captured me with this and re-read several times now. "I need to always bring you to a space where I can see you" clever and oh so true. Lotta people out there could learn from this wisdom.

        • malubotelho

Well, like our friend Pauly said before; the world is not prepared to know the true. We dont learn it at school and even when we are looking for it we can barely touch the subject in understanding. Even the most beautiful love poem shows trace of the ego. Sad it.

ego is something I cannot envision. I see the word but nothing registers. I don't know why I did not look for it in the dictionary. I've got three electronic ones. I'm a very good speller after all those books I've read then and now. but when I'm typing I have them handy. is the ego. well I just looked it up. it says excessive self opinion. I do want to know who I am. sometimes I lose this and I become afraid. I do know we cannot change the future of the stars. mans measurements just don't fit this universe. it needs a whole going over.

Pauly, ego is just one of the names used to explain the 7 capital sins we carry. In religion they talk about but do not explain much unless you go deep into studying it. I recommend a book that is excellent and do not talk about the ego but also the life in general. The pain in the world and that we are connected. The book is called (The Power of Now) and the author is Eckhart Tolle. It is an spiritual book that teachs us about ourselves and why we feel the way we feel. I like to listen to it on Audible because it brought a lot of explanation and reassured me about other books I had read before in the same subject. Thanks for your interest.

I've got a few books listed in my profile. you don't have to read the titles. but I hope you do. it will give you some insite about where I'm coming from. these books are similar to(the power of now.). I taped one of them on cassette the whole book twice. and listend to them over and over again. its like a philosophy,
and self help. I've read tons of books like this because I wanted to teach myself the ins and outs in life. the titles are to the right of my profile page. if you care to. if you do you will know what I'm "talking about. just there names tell a story. well I've got poems to read so I wont keep you.......
