The Middle Kids

Edthepoet

Brother It's been one whole year
Since she broke
Your heart in two
It's been one whole year
Since your spine failed you
It's been one whole year
Since your career a bullet went through...

What's wrong with you?
You don't speak in large groups
Why are you so scared
To let them hear your views
Whats up with you
You don't read the news
Why are you so detached
From the worlds truth
Look at us
We just want whats best for you
Listen to me
I just want you to see
"Okay Here's the thing.."
No don't interupt me when I speak..
Don't roll your eyes
I'm trying to help you realise
You can be anything you want
You could have everything I have
I'm 2 years younger than you
Yet I'm the one with the car
She's two years older than you
Yet she's the one with the child
What are you doing with your life?
You've got us so worked up
Everybodies worried
Everyone's patience
Is beginning to to run out
You make us wanna scream
You make us wanna shout
Will you ever open up
And let us help
Thats my phone I've got to run..
If you ever need to talk
You know where I am...

The door slams, thank fuck for that, breathe in breathe out, lay the needle down,
On the vinyl, there's that magic sound, to drown out the echoes of melo dramatic despair, pick up a note pad and a pen, why would I waste my words trying to find a solution to a problem only father time can provide, when I can paint

A linguistic picture your untrained mind won't even see
That will help me find
Someone like me.

We're the middle kids
We never get it right
The one who came first
Knows better than I
We're the middle kids
We always get it wrong
The one who came next
Reaps from my misfortune.
We're the middle kids
The great misunderstood

  • Comment from author about the poem: This is the poetic equivalent of throwing paint at the canvas. (Or sh*t at the wall). "Kindly let me help you or you will drown said the monkey placing the fish up the tree" (Alan Watts) pretty much sums up the meaning.

I'm the youngest and that line towards the end was perfect my friend.
I also give respect to my middle sis and old bro for helping learn from them.
Love your splattered paint, and the monkey with a fish. I've used that twice in the last few days 😉
