Memory's Pearl.

Fay Slimm.

Memory's Pearl.

She had eaten
the proof of amour's iridescence,
taken love's juice
and emptied its cup to the dregs.
She sweetened by
patience the taste of long distance
and wasted no chance
for passion to break silken bread.

She had embraced
given gold of satisfied closeness,
quenched lonely thirst
so needy hunger invaded no more.
She feasted when
fate made late-laden approaches
and imbibed desire's
ripened affection as never before.

She had known
but once the romance of a lifetime
therefore memory's
pearl she now wears with a smile.

Faye, you did it again! How many of these beautifully written poems to you still have up your sleeve?
The romance of a lifetime becomes memory's pearl. So well said!
The picture is beautiful too, looks like she is waiting for her sailor to return.

Ah - yes - the feel of that picture did it for me Fred - - as an incurably romantic I just allow words to write themselves. Thank you a load for the lovely comment.

The lady has known the blessing of a true love in her full life ... what more could one hope for? Thank you for granting us the pleasure of experiencing this fine tribute, Fay.

The breaking of the silken bread...I wonder sometimes if your enchanted pen sings hymns for you as you sweep it across paper. Wonderful picture paired with verse.
