Into The Furnace

Edthepoet

Yes life goes on
But somethings wrong
You can tell yourself
This was to say goodbye
This was to put to behind
You to finally move on
The more things change
The more they stay the same
You can convince yourself
He's the one for you
He's only the one
You could never
turn me into
I'm Mr right
He's Mr right in front of you.

If you stayed
We could've made it out
We would've made it through
I would've carried you
Through the flames
Naked and afraid
But not as scared
As losing you.

Ask yourself
After news of death
Why you're in my bed
Why you rest your head
On my chest after a cigarette shared
Why you asked me to sing
You off to sleep
While your wedding ring
Is left by your sink

For this I'd beg
For this I'd steal
For this I'd jump
For this I'd kill

For you I fight
For you I breathe
For you I burn
For you I live

For we once fell
Into the furnace
For we did love
Carlessly
For we now search
Endlessly
Through a veil of smoke
And we choke
At every chance
Of happiness
When we taste
That familiar scent
Of heaven sent
Sweet insanity

You can change your name
You can fix your ways
You can run away
But you can't outrun
This twist of fate
That First love paints
On a canvas blank...

Wow Ed that is wonderful. Truly wonderful writing and really hit me hard. I know exactly the feelings you have written here, lived them and your words brought them right back for me. +favs
