Tainted

Brie

A full heart it once was,

Now it's a little bruised

It's okay though, really

Happy days they used to be,

Now they're a little grey

Genuine smiles we used to give,

Now they're a little fake

It's okay though, really

Tear dropping laughs we used to crack,

Now they're a little forced

Now here we are,

Eye to eye

What do I say?

Do I say I love you? I hate you? Or how was your day?

I'm lost for words, as you have been before

But now this is different

Me you chose to ignore

So I give my small fake smile, and you do the same

Then we break eye contact and walk separate ways

A faded love, such a bittersweet thing. Bravo.

Thank you. It's kind of a theme I've got going here, I've come to realize. But not all my poems will be like this, I guarantee.

        Good. Variety is spicy.

The end of a relationship that just fades away can be a more difficult experience than one that ends abruptly, can't it? Either way it hurts, even if in the long run it's for the best. Appreciated your poem, Brie.

          I'm glad you liked it!

Brie, I really, really like your poem (repetition of really done on purpose!), there is so much written between the lines. If the age given in your bio is correct, I would say you write extremely well for your age. And I do like that last line. It makes it final, no more guessing.
