When it’s over, leave.
Do not continue to water a dead flower.
But how do you know it’s over?
Maybe it’s when you feel more in love with memories.
Then you do the person standing in front of you.
I understand that it is hard.
I realize that you have invested so much of yourself.
But why go to war for someone
Who wouldn’t even lace his boots?
Learn to love the sound of your feet
Walking away from things
That are no longer meant for you.
Because you deserve to love without hiding
The parts that you deem “unlovable”
You have nothing to apologize for.
You alone are enough.
You are too full of life,
To only be half loved.
And the greatest gift you could ever give yourself,
Is letting go.
There is strength in letting go,
And there is beauty in moving on.
I can only pray that you see this as well.
You were art long before he came to admire you,
And you will continue to be art long after he’s gone.
A masterpiece will always be a masterpiece
Even if the lights are off,
And the room is empty.

Can i private message you. I liked your writing and it actually hits home...
Of course!!
Excellent words. It took me more than half my lifespan to be able to do all that you state but theres no going back once achieved. Strong stuff and i am keeping your poem to show to anyone i meet who is feeling worthless after a break up because i have never seen such concise expression. +favs
