Ocean, Dear Ocean

MissileOfUncertainty

A single drop falls into the ocean,

And a wave is born.

Rippling in all directions,

But yet is never torn.

Traveling forever,

In a cycle of shame.

That single drop has become,

An outlet for the oceans pain.

And it screams out in torrents.

Upwelling a beast.

A tsunami reeks havoc,

The oceans heart starts to sink.

Thud.

Thud.

Thud...

They sky shines down,

Creating color on the calm sea.

The boats and ships wait still,

And the sea starts to bleed.

Out pours the sirens song,

Of lost sailors in the night.

Love, the ocean once had.

But her love left her to fly.

And now she swims alone.

But never alone will she be.

Because every single man,

Dreams of drifting out to sea.

  • Comment from author about the poem: (I wrote this after a bad break up, trying to get over the loss of someone- And then I ended up convincing myself that I was just fine, that I wasn't alone. Not as meaningful as most of my poems- but it holds a special place in my heart.)

That last line is the truth if I've ever read it. Well done. You won't be alone forever.

Thank you! And I would sure hope not haha. That would be super depressing!

Beautiful poem with an even more beautiful ending. There is hope after all. And we do "dream of drifting out to sea". There is something very soothing about drifting in the ocean, maybe connecting in the subconscious with the womb (deep thought!) or maybe just because we want to find that elusive mermaid (not so deep thought!).

Hey, I wanna find a mermaid to! Nothing wrong with it not being very deep. Mermaids are awesome ^~^ Thank you for your compliments and for your support!
