We Are All Blind, For We Are Human

poetboy123

A virus spreading through the world

This epidemic hasn't just unfurled

Symptoms including ignorance and hate

Increasing at an incalculable rate

Emotions drown any other single thought

Creating more war with the peace we sought

Only seeing a piece, never the whole

Revoking humanity no longer a person with a soul

Enemies are people, and we are our enemies

Jailed by a flawed lens, yet holding the keys

Allowing our shadows to come and take control

Spreader of Hatred as our new role

Forget understanding for fear

Give up hope for more war

Lose your love to claim hate

Wearing blindfolds, wrapped in a cocoon

Caged and now unwilling to be free

And unless you decide to take it off soon

There'll be nothing left for you to see

"If we could read the secret history of our enemies we should find in each man's life sorrow and suffering enough to disarm all hostility." -Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

A fine expression of western civilizations disgust of war. Oh that it were oh so simple. Oh that war were not one huge profit making opportunity for the arms salesman. Very provocative write!

Indeed, from a poem I read on MPS once (or something along these lines), "Killing's the game and business is good."

PB, very good writing about a very difficult theme. You did Mr. Longfellow proud! The world is ruled by fear and greed, and war is the ultimate expression of that. This sounds very simplistic, and I may be wrong, but I do believe that there would not be any wars anymore if we could rid the world of fear and greed.

It will be difficult, but it must be done for the future, thank you for commenting!

              I hope you don't mind but like I said your great work of art is outstanding and made me think of these lines;

So we burn a little sage and write poetry
Wiser than the enemy will ever be
              The minority
              And authority
Are you here to protect or arrest me?
I can’t tolerate the hate, and I'm losing sleep
Can’t breathe, cause they’re choking out a war in me
              Immorality

The song is called love letters to god, by m.f.t.p.
              thanks again

No thank you for sharing that with me, it's an incredible piece of work!

The song was amazing live, only time I visit London. I try to keep my distance, sea is best for me
