Tide Pools

Tide Pools

My heart consists
of flawed pearls
and crushed seashells.

I was conceived,
in a whirlwind wounding
of my beloved ocean.

Conch to my ear,
I beckon to mermaids song
and sirens serenade.

I tingle
to the thrill,
of her thunderous waves.

I smolder with a blaze
no mere lake can quell.
I need the vast drowning of seas.

I dread never
to behold,
her sparkling jewels again.

phantom of my birth
looms over me,
in earthly plight.

Forever landlocked and dreaming,
fitfully the sweat of my brow
is shared by our salt...

Candlewitch, this is a beauty. Your opening verse had me worried though. There are finer things within your pulsing pump.

        dear b-e,

I'm sorry, but I don't understand meaning. could you be more specific, if you have the time?
        thanks.

This has to be one of your best postings dear Cat - I smelt those tide pools and was there with the salt of your jeweled dreaming - to be landlocked when filled with need for the ocean is tragic my friend. Brilliant ;piece.

Thank you Cat, how many times have I walked along the coast looking at all the tide pools. Some small, some large, but all beautiful. But now, after your poem I will be looking at them in a completely different way. You gave them personality!

                dear Fred,

I'm so glad that I could do something nice for you! I didn't just look at them, I played in them, LOL! I'm a water-baby!

I see your love of the sea is just as much as my love for your poetry. a great wet wavy poem.
