Death

Domi

The darkness that consumes,

The light that no longer exists,

Heart cold, frozen in time.

The mind has so many thoughts,

None make sense, or time,

Mind over working, no rest foreseen.

The body exhausted with pain,

Keeps running with no destination,

Body never stopping to rest, ages.

With the need of the heart, the mind, the body,

Being that never in sync,

Never to know rest until dead.

The mind stops thinking,

The heart stops beating,

The body stops moving.

As the blackness sets in,

The coldness takes over,

The thoughts stop coming.

Sight becoming a blur,

Blood starts thickening,

Life is coming to fleeting end.

Fading into nothingness,

Everything stops,

Nothing is left, just a last breath.

Lifeless and abandoned,

The last spark is gone,

Empty shell is all that's left.

One more push,

One more spark,

One more hope.

Comes to a fleeting close,

With nothing left,

But a memory of a life once lived.

    Welcome to the site Domi!
You are a good writer and you tackled a, in my opinion, very difficult subject matter admirably.

and death shall have no dominion

    • Nicholas Browning

Last stanza hit hard. The grandeur of death is a mystery indeed. Well written, well done.

Thank you very much. I figured I started it strong, I might as well finish it strong. Your comment is most appreciated.
