A New Life

Leaving everything behind, with nowhere to go

The longing of knowing what will lie ahead

The day I ran seems so long ago

But only yesterday I fled

I wish I could go back, but now in the past

Must start a new life

How long can I really last

What could come forth from this strife

Following the sun and stars

Treading in the river flow

Within, are scars

But how do I know what is below

The trees are greener on this side

Things I have only seen in dreams

I gave in and cried

Soon later they turned to screams

A plea for help that never came

I only wanted to start anew

For the cause is only I to blame

Cannot go back to the things I have went through

Now there is something that I’ve never felt

Hope

Slowly my icy heart melts

Walking over this life long slope

Gazing across the valley with glee

Seeing flowers of colors so bright

Quite a magnificent sight

Now I am free
