Towards the Light

poetboy123

One step, then I pause to remember

The skeletons littered around me

Hearts once whole, now a fading ember

Fought for the Tomorrow they could never see

A flame rages within my soul

Burning away all my distractions and fear

Leaving only the compass to my goal

Eyes set upon the horizon, my cause clear

Limping forward, towards the light

Spirit yearning to be free from this night

Every time I rise, just to be pushed back down

Head beneath the surface, about to drown

Silence from Light's fragile whispers in my ear

Drifting towards a void of emptiness

Wondering if I let go, would there be anything left to hear

Ready to give in to the abyss

A ray of light pierces through the darkness

It shudders and lets out a horrid cry

Now simply ashes of the illusion of eternalness

Freeing a titanium will none can deny

Pushing forward towards the light

Spirit yearning to end this night
