This Tattoo

M. Mohon

This tattoo that I wear on my sleeve
is a story without written words.
Each picture represents a moment of time
in my life which I cannot ignore.

The skull represents all the anger
and rage that has built up inside.
This life has tested my patience many times,
but I always managed to survive.

The sewn up wrist is my guilt
for the life that I tried to cut short.
Reminding me that even on my darkest days
my life can be happy once more.

The pills represent an addiction
I don’t think I need to explain.
It was my escape from the harshness of life.
A temporary cure for my pain.

The flask also needs no introduction.
It was another form of my release.
Drowning my sorrows and forgetting my sins
Putting my demons to sleep.

The musical notes, they remind me
That life is made up of songs.
Some depress and others make you happy
There really is no going wrong.

Lastly, the heart left in stitches.
Bleeding, beaten, and bruised.
Reminds me that caring is painful, but still
your not living unless it’s been used.

Great piece. Very expressive of who you are and where you’ve been. Tattoos are a great way to express yourself, and judging by your words, I’d guess it’s some great ink you wear. Thanks for sharing
