The Hard Times

Austin Harness

WRITE.
Thoughts may overwhelm,
And most times they do.
But don't get too lost,
And forget what's true.
PLAY.
Life doesn't stop,
Mistakes will be made.
And most times,
They make me quite afraid.
LOVE.
Family is always there,
Through think and thin.
My friends provide a smile for me,
And both will be there until the end.
PRAY.
Life seems to fall apart,
Without God, strong, in my life.
I've been really lost lately,
And shame cuts through like a knife.
TIME.
How do I tell you how I feel,
Without the love you give me?
It's so hard sometimes,
Bc I want to be your one and only.
TEARS.
If only you knew,
The things I wish to show.
But it really scares me,
Because you might let me go.
POWER.
I've been without strength,
That I need to push through.
I know what I need,
But I don't turn to you.
FEAR.
Left alone in the dark,
Covered in doubt and shame.
I have a reputation,
But can't live up to my name.
TRUST.
Give you my all,
Drop all of my things.
Forget the consequences,
And see what good it brings.
MEND.
My life will begin,
And come together as one.
Keeping my eyes on the future,
Until the bad things are done.
TRUTH.
I want to know,
What the right things are.
To get ride of my mistakes,
And make myself move away really far.
END.
WRITE, PLAY, LOVE, and PRAY,
About your TRUTH and POWER.
It's TIME to rid of all the TEARS and all the FEARS,
Give TRUST to God and he'll MEND my heart, and we can be together every hour!

  • Comment from author about the poem: It\\\'s been a rough week, but I have been trying to push through. The only thing I could turn to was my writing and, yet, it still feels like I have so much to say, so many thoughts and things that want to jump right out of my mind onto the paper! Hopefully more writing will help. Hope you enjoy, comment what you think!

I like this very much indeed. It's one of those writes which contain so many pearls of wisdom. Print it off and hang it behind the bathroom door - oft a place where quiet contemplation could benefit from whichever of these pearls one reflects upon.
