Refusing To Play (+1)

Kurt Philip Behm

Looming large in my absence,

the silence screamed out my name

Present in my rejection

—refusing to play the game

(Villanova Pennsylvania: May, 2014)

The Devil Called Roll

An unknown voice cried out

from the abyss,

As the nameless got in line

with the rest

The promises offered

lies to reclaim,

As the devil called out roll

                              from his list
