Rich in Influence

SheWasTheSun

How incredible it is to think

That winds of fleeting permanence

Brought you, a tiny seed, to sink

Into earth rich in influence,

Hope, doubt, and fertile fear

And buried in the dark, desolate ground

With only your haunting thoughts to hear

You, an unassuming seed, found

Water from the sky, seeping

Filling in your holes, leaving you soaked

To think, all that time you spent weeping

The tears that poured were the liquid gold

That would eventually pair with that lush, hearty dirt

And healing warmth cascading from above

To destroy every ounce of that which made you hurt

And to fill every corner of you with so much love,

So much nerve, tact, drive, and grit

That all you could possibly do was grow

And so, you grew, up and out, up and in

Out of the numbing darkness, into the muddled show

Beyond the soil that had kept you safe

You burst into the air that you’d cowered beneath

And witnessed reality in all its grace

For all its flaws, at last unsheathed

You grew tall and wide

You grew fast and straight

And one day, it was impossible to hide

The truth became known to all, you were great

It’s a story of fairy tale proportions

Told over campfires and bedtime wishes

That through chaos, adversity, pain, and distortion

A small seed of hope became a great flower of ambition

And when they ask you to recount your story

They’ll ask to whom you credit

Your growth that led to such glory

And you’ll say without thinking a second,

“How incredible it is to think,

The winds of fleeting permanence,

Brought me, a tiny seed, to sink

Into earth rich in influence.”
