You stare
at the pills before you
after losing count
of how many
have slipped down your throat
You wonder
are they the ones with the power
to end pain
or are you?
You wonder
how many it would take
to make him realize
what true pain of loss
is.

Just a side note for everyone: I am not suicidal. This poem came from my imagination
Baylee you have the power to lift people up with your words. Glorifying suicide is not empowering nor is it artful - I simply can't support it. Let's help our suffering society overcome this demonic urge; let's point them first of all to NAMI...
I wouldn't say this piece glorifies suicide, it seems to be an act of trying to regain some kind of control in a moment of desperation. Your write has raised opposing opinions on its subject matter and there is definitely always room for that in poetry. It can't all be pretty imagery and rhythmical rhymes.
Poetry can be ugly as well, but my goal has still been achieved: to have my words affect people in one way or another. Thank you for understanding
You write so well Nicole. And you do what a writer is supposed to do, namely get the reader involved and thinking.
As for your last stanza: ...but you would never know if he realized it, wouldn't you.
You bring up a valid point; thank you for your input
