futile attempts

Rosey_hills22

We've got no use for yesterday and tomorrow's tomorrow so let's live here today.
No butterflies today so the past can kiss my ass
and the ulcers in my gut toast the whiskey in my glass…
You cannot exist plagued by your fear?
Lost in the rearview with no one to steer.
windows to souls weeping unpaid tolls
garnish new flames to rise from old coals.
Chase the horizon keeping the rear view in check,
and embrace the path you were destined to trek,
the past will make sense unless you lose your mind
From ignoring “could've beens” warning sign.
Regrets will stir the calmest seas
And turn dreams of forever into final pleas.
Hindsight always knows it best, so tempt not the violent wake
Lose the guilt upon your chest, lest her purrs you can not shake.
When dreams of forever suddenly severe,
Schemes of tomorrow bleed into to never.
And soon your sheep will beg for sleep,
While heartstring theories make you weep.
If you feel alone you'll wake to a phone,
Where a dial tone will leave you accident prone and begs skinny dips to lace shoes of stone.
A sea of regrets will leave nothing to find,
and with friends among fish still no one will mind.
So burn the gauze in the spoon so your elixir may draw up
Sever each tie upon the moon and let the dogs shut up
regret not a thing, keep your eyes on the prize.
We met not a king, but got truth from the wise…
beyond the horizon lies a futile attempt,
at a glimpse of future you may not yet repent.
With his last words I know he'd say,
“Fly like the birds and seize each day.
live the life of a big city feeling because it's better than suburban dreaming."
life goes on even when when we're gone
I miss my friend, my uncle Sean.

Nice end line rhyme convention throughout. You conclude with an important truth concerning both the natural and supernatural realm; the mortal and immortal existence of the human soul.
