Thrift Store Cup

Joel Carpenter

I wondered how many

lips you touched

I shouldn't have just picked you

up like that

I could have gotten something

younger

But your shape

was something I've never seen

You were cheap

Unexpected

Wrapped in plastic

I cut you open with a butter knife

and poured Zinfandel in you
