Seasons of Life
Our joys, sorrows,
All in the seasons of life.
The wind carries in,
and the seasons change.
Blowing drifts of snow.
It is difficult to breathe.
My face is numb;
and my body frozen.
How beautiful the snowflakes,
so perfectly exquisite, and
none are the same. Like the
people I see, so complex and unique.
Drip, drip. The icicle
melts, and the ground is barren.
The wind carries in,
and the seasons change.
Do you hear that? The bird,
up in the trees, it calls out.
I spot something green,
amongst the branches!
O rush of wind, rain pounds on the roof.
It is calming, but unpredictable.
One fears for the unknown!
Crack! And a rumble of thunder.
Bloom, blooming buds,
pretty blooms on all the shrubs.
The wind carries in,
and the seasons change.
I hear the children laughing,
a bike bell rings, and Mom calls
for family supper.
I rush, my parents wait for me.
The evening is long, and
Grandma sits on the front porch rocker.
The sun has parched the land, the night falls,
the crickets are a-chirp.
Rush of wind, rustling the leaves.
Oh – brightly colored, an array of hues.
I hear it – the wind whipping through the branches,
another leaf falls. And the seasons change.
