Man I never knew

S.louise

There’s a star up there
And it shines for my dad
The man I never got to hold
But he will always be my dad.
He never heard me speak a word
Or see me take a step.
He never saw me in a play
Or help me through my pain.
I often wonder what he was like
Or why he left so soon.
Or if he would be the one to hug me
When I’m feeling blue.
See people think it doesn’t hurt
Because this man I never knew,
But this man was my dad
And it hurts all year through.
That I never got to hold the hand
With the dad I never knew

Beautiful writing S. It is so sad if a kid cannot get to know his/her dad, whatever the reason. But it is equally sad if a dad cannot get to know his kid.
