Don't You Know

HEIDIKINS

They say what doesn't kill you

makes you stronger,

but sometimes it leaves you broken down instead.

The waves are coming

one by one,

and they're slowly drowning my head;

with empty words...empty thoughts.

The way you look at me could burn my soul,

but I'm immune to that pain from you.

Your eyes are empty

even though I know they can dance.

My name used to be carried

with every breath on your lips

but there is not even a whisper left.

Don't you know?

Don't you know?

That you're not innocent

you are just like me.

Don't you know?

I cannot cut my heart

to bleed for you anymore.

Cuz' there's nothing else,

nothing left to give

I can't pretend to do this anymore.

No matter what I say,

no matter what I do,

my words are like poison

and I do not have the cure.

I will not have feelings

that are not my own.

You cannot change

what my heart already knows.

And you can walk around

like you have no shadow

but I can see it there, lurking in your wake.

You can be as blind as you want

but you are only fooling yourself.

Don't you know?

Don't you know?

That you're not innocent.

You're just like me.

I cannot cut my heart

to bleed for you anymore.

Cuz' there's nothing else

nothing left to give.

Don't you know?

Well written, kind of sad though.

    • HEIDIKINS

Thank you. It is sad...because it is about a sad point in my life but also a moment of being set free.

You are right, so many times freedom is preceded by pain and sadness. Hope you are doing great now!
