Some of us
Wear scars on our hearts
Atrocious nightmares
Ambigous mirages
Callous memories
They live indelible
Forever in each heart chamber
Some of us
Wear scars on our skin
Telltale signs
We cannot cope
With this cunning plane of existence
Ugly serpentines
Our little clandestine vice
But I saw you
You were kinder to the strangers on the bus
Some of us
Wear someone else's scars
Are we saviours or masochists?
Perhaps just love sick fools
And some of us wear them all
So don't you put carat gold on my skin
We're nothing akin
Can't buy me pretty dresses
They'll just crumble to ashes
I can feel your desolation
But now
For what is in your core
The unicorns can't touch me anymore
