Smothering

Baylee

Love is either

a flickering candle

or a raging inferno

The unsteady candle

short lived

& fruitless

The burning flare

smoke choking any life

that happens to get in its way

Our love

was both

the firestorm,

and the candle

Smothering everyone around us

but eventually reduced

to a defective

scintillation.
