I'm just a notch in your bedpost, but you're just a line in a song

Anongirl123

What do you see when you look at me
And I don't mean on the outside
I mean right behind my eyes
He said to himself
Not much
But to me he said
Behind those eyes is the sweetest thing I've ever seen
He kept saying it in differing ways to convince me
And eventually he was able to say I was also the sweetest thing he'd ever tasted

It's funny how things happened next
Later on I told him, "You know I read the other day in a cosmo magazine that you're not supposed to drink your calories"

And He wasn't surprised at that first part of my statement

But then I looked at him in the eyes and said

So stop stealing tastes of me

And that statement was very foreign

At least to the persona he knew of me
Sweet Selena or at least trying to be
As sweet of a Selena and I could be
Candy girl
Oh she's my candy girl get it how and when I want it girl
If I keep telling her she's sweet maybe I'll believe it too

When he came to
He told me he didn't care about calories
Let his teeth hurt from drinking in my sweetness
But now as I look back I realize that he didn't say that because he was willing to risk the consequences of a sweet tooth for me
But because I actually wasn't the sweetest thing he'd ever tasted
And maybe just on the outside the sweetest thing he'd ever seen

To him
Everything else about me was indeed
Not much
Indeed he looked beyond my eyes and saw nothing

So do you see something sweet when you look at me
Do you want to take a taste of me
Will you steal tastes of me like him
Because I let you
Because you convince me to let you
Do you think those tastes of the me behind my eyes are sweet
He never did
No one has yet to tell me
