My once known soul mate.

jul

I'm sure we've all heard the

"I'm young I can't be tied down" bit before

The " I wanna live my life"

but I'm still living in my moms basement,

with a mattress on the floor

The " I just need my space grow"

but 5 inches is all you'll ever know, or wait.

Was It 4?

Or the  "Sorry I just don't have the time for this"

hangs up, and ignores me once more

....

But Time is just an empty book and you fill in the pages.

Don't sit there and say you're young. I know what your age is.

Or how you wanna live your life because he said I was his

...

But you need your space to grow ?

Even though

I gave you my sun

While I was stuck in the shade

I gave you my love when it wasn't an even trade.

But I still stayed.

...

Tell me that I have a heart that you adore

but contradict yourself saying you want more?

But shit what for?

...

Cause you can't be tied down?

...

But I wanna know what tying has been done

besides the knot you created in my stomach

now when I hear your voice

And you beg for me once more.

 I'm sorry

Have we met before ?

You're not the man I once loved.

...

You look just like him.

You smell just like him.

And sometimes I swear I can see him shine through you

every now and then.

But I have already mourned his loss,

a man I'll never again come across

I've accepted who you are.

My once known soul mate.

  • Comment from author about the poem: I recently got out of a 3 year relationship with a guy that i once loved. It was hard to learn and accept that he has changed, and he is no longer the man i once knew.

Welcome to the site, jul. Well expressed poem.
Love come, love gone. At least, you were once in love, and you will grow in love. Time, time will sooth your heart.

There's hope yet! True love will be indissoluble and protected within the bounds of sacramental marriage. Save yourself for this - you're worth it! I too had lots of "failures" before realizing I had wasted big chunks of my heart eating from dumpsters instead of the great banquet I have been created for. The COR Project (Christopher West) will set your appetite for the skies...
