Trip to the Sea

poetboy123

Aboard a sinking ship

Sailing on a do or die trip

Caught in a whirlpool of chaos

Facing the chasm of fear none can cross

All my hopes and dreams brought along

Morphing into shadows, I no longer belong

Grasped and thrown down to the shrieking ocean

Drowning on my doubt and turbulent emotion

Hand reaches out toward the dying light

Dreams all fading as I sink in the night

Darkness embraces me, water clogs any breath

Eyes slowly closing, approaching the beach of death

With a shock, my hopes resurface, igniting my heart

Flames burning away the waves keeping me apart

From the future, I will create with these ashes

Phantoms rise to battle, I set off the matches

    Nicely written poem 🙂
I thought all the rhyming was a bit much but the words and imagery are used well.

Thanks, Brycycle! My poetry is usually based on rhyming most of the time.

Pish posh, the rhyming was class.

          Ah ok, apologies @poetboy

No need to apologize friend, I was trying to be a little funny about it, haha. All opinions are welcome here, I did not mean to belittle yours. All is well!

It was nice of you to say that.

The style is nice. Certain emotions entitle a poem to be written a certain way. Marching off to fight the end, now that is some serious stuff. As you grow, your style will evolve. I'm looking forward to seeing where it takes you.
