Empty Room

Mandi

Sitting in an empty room

Staring at an empty chair

You're gone but I'm still here

My distractions have left me

Now the awareness of loneliness has taken over

Your laugh echoes in my mind

Your smile is just out of sight

Your warmth has been replaced by the cold air lingering in this empty space

Without you my heart is just as empty too

  • Comment from author about the poem: It's been awhile...summers over and school has begun. I'm back home but being with family was comforting and kept me from thinking about this incredibly LONG time apart from my love. Now it's just me (and the kids). I really miss him.😢

When reading your well written poem, one can feel the loneliness seeping out between each line. I like 'your laugh echoes in my mind' and 'your smile is just out of sight'. Beautifully said.
