Dark into Light

private poet

My photographs and memories

Remind me

Of the legacy of strength and dignity

That  you inspired in me.

Following your template

I treat my enemies with

The same gentle politeness

You reserved for strangers.

Never descending to their level.

No insults traded.

No names called.

No dramatic scenes,

Instead

The calm and measured language

Of legal process

Bringing new order to despair

Justice!

Restoring my belief

That I am moving forward

As you would want me to

Taking with me

All that good between us

Distancing myself from those

Who seek to bring me down

At peace with who I am

Able to look myself in the eye

And to know that I have

Done the right thing.

Becoming better people one step at a time. Well said.

Easy to say and much harder to stick to but I cannot let these bad experiences drag me down. Thank you for reading and commenting x
