Wall of Names

C.L.

I look up, but the shadow is cast.

What I see are the names of my past.

Engraved in this everlasting memorial.

A salute to my success, and also my failure.

As I gaze into the series of letters.

I've become lost, in all its pain and pleasure.

A wall of names is what others see.

And yet, a tomb of my secrecy.

The shelter that holds my darkest intent.

I'm a slave to this monument of sin.

Heeding to its every beck and call.

And those names of which I've kept.

Has lead me far into this side of which at first I've barely stepped.

A precursor for elimination.

This roadblock of my imagination.

This was what the shadow has cast.

The pain..

The laughter...

The sorrowful past.
