"You're so pretty for a darkskin girl".
The words trigger bees with rage inside my mind that dash and whirl out of control into my throat and out through my mouth as words like stingers to jab into the person who speaks them. This is no compliment but it is offensive as the words you speak only mean that finding beauty in us is finding a needle in a haystack, that if I wasn't darkskin I would be ordinary and that I am only pretty because darkskin girls are not.

It is sad that we still have this in 2017. Beauty is everywhere and in everyone. Some of the most beautiful models in the world are dark skinned. I hope color blindness comes to pass.
For color blindness to pass would be a dream come true
