The World's A Stage

poetboy123

Here we have no rehearsals, every day is an audition

Choices surround you, choose what you become

Forever an actor, our duties will never be done

Unburdened by fate, always free to adjust your role

Only chained by circumstance, limiting your control

Go ahead it’s your decision, after all, it’s your soul

Hero or Villain, all will perish and eternally forgotten

Become bigger than what you are, leave your mark upon this world

Either way, in this game of life Death has always won

Invested in each every one of us, the power to change the destinies of others

Rough, barren rock laid before all, of which we may decide to be the sculptor

Yet, an age of darkness is on the rise, an ocean of animosity

Overcome by the waves of hatred, shoved within the sea

Drowning from unrelenting emotion, blinded by faded glory

Reach past all prejudice, carve a way to a brighter tomorrow

Unite past all boundaries, only we are our greatest foes

Push past all doubt, grasp hope and leave behind all woes

Fly free from the pit of lies, relinquish your given part

Stop looking with your eyes, start feeling with your heart

Remain spineless and docile, or finally let your fury free

Your goals, your dreams, your future, let loose for all to see

Our future is fading from our hands, yet fools still seem to find our ears

We are too busy criticizing each other to start looking at our mirror

Is it because we’ve always been staring at our abyss that we never noticed a new darkness approaching?

A wearied pen, as I struggle, scrambling to write these final lines
Consider my words as a testimony for the rest of my time
